About us

Re:Create Brooklyn started in April of 2024 as Trash Club Brooklyn, a family-friendly trash cleanup and sustainability group that got kids cleaning up trash in NYC Parks and shorelines. The microplastic trail lead us to a global community of recyclers, makers, artist and entrepreneurs passionate about solving the plastic waste crisis, and bringing sustainability and true circularity in to their communities.  We established the official Precious Plastic Brooklyn Community Point to connect people who want to join the mission.  Over the past year, we've taught DIY small-scale recycling workshops in collaboration NYC and NY State Parks, NYC Public Schools, local businesses and large corporations. Our mission is to focus on intercepting and redirecting small reject plastics to citywide collection points, hyperlocal DIY plastic recycling programs and recycling centers where everyone can upcycle and transform their own plastic waste into something useful, meaningful and lasting.

Workshops

Our hands-on workshops are designed to inspire and empower individuals to source, sort and up-cycle local plastic waste. We teach people how to intercept and divert plastic waste away from landfills and natural wildlife habitats.  In addition to the recycling process, we offer several at-your-school, at-your-park, at-your-company presentations: Plastic 101, Clean Ups as Climate Action, Is It Recyclable? and

Build A Badass In-House Recycling Center.

We post all the info about upcoming public workshops on our socials @recreatebrooklyn

The Rejection Collection

We are all about rescuing, redirecting and rehabilitating the rejects and undesirables of the plastic recycling world.  Big Recycling systems reject plastics like prescription medicine bottles, 3D printer scraps and bottle caps due to size and low-commodity value. These little baddies literally fall through the cracks the sorting machinery and end up in landfills or incinerators.

Send us your Rejects and we’ll recycle them into something new, lasting and useful, and teach other people of all ages how to do the same.

It’s real, local, circular climate action.

Plastic waste that YOU took the time to collect, clean and keep out of the ocean, out of landfills and out of an incinerator.
